History & Identity

Created
Presidential Decree No. 1237 of 11 November 1977 created the Municipality of Talusan from barangays of Mabuhay, then in the Province of Zamboanga del Sur, with its seat in the barangay of Talusan. It took effect at once.[9, 10]

Its story

Presidential Decree No. 1237 of 11 November 1977 separated Talusan and other barangays from Mabuhay and made them a new municipality, leaving Mabuhay in being.[9, 10]

The decree's preamble says a new municipality there would help the effort to bring calm back to the area.[9]

In 2000 Talusan was named among the municipalities that made up the new Province of Zamboanga Sibugay.[11]
