Find a place

  1. Type its name in the search box at the top of any page, then pick it from the list. Add the town or province to find the right one: “San Vicente Tarlac City”. Accents, “Sto.” or “Brgy.”, and a letter or two off are fine.
  2. Or open the Atlas, then a region, then a province, then a city or municipality. The map on the home page opens a region too.
  3. Pick a barangay to see its population, its map and the barangays around it. To see every one of a level at once, use the lists under Atlas in the menu: regions, provinces, cities, municipalities and barangays.
  4. Each page says where its facts come from and when they were last updated.

Where the facts come from

Every number and every line of history on a place page names its source, listed at the bottom of the page. Borders are a guide, not the legal boundary. Every source and method, and who made what, under which licence. The Archive's pictures and Now's dates name theirs the same way, on their own pages: the Archive's holders and licences and the laws and sources behind Now.

How accurate the figures are

  • Census counts, land areas and other official figures are shown as their sources publish them.
  • A figure Scene works out, such as a share, a rank or a density, says so, and says how. A barangay's land area is measured inside a border drawn as a guide, so it is approximate, and the page marks it “about”.
  • Where a source has not published a figure, the page says so in its place, and never shows a guess.

Cite a page

Every place page ends with a Cite this page box: Scene, the page's title, the day it was last updated and its address, in one line to copy. Cite the source a figure names too: it is listed at the foot of the same page.

Words you meet

A small ? button beside a word explains it, and every such word is in the glossary, with what the law says of each level of government.

Share a page

Every Atlas page has a Share button near the top. It copies the page's address, or sends it to Facebook, WhatsApp, Viber, X and other apps, with the page's title and picture.

How often the data changes

The Atlas is rebuilt whole from its sources for each release, and every Atlas page shows the day it was last updated. Release notes say what each release changed.
