Its story

Igbaras was merged with Guimbal in 1902 and made a separate town again on January 1, 1919 under the American regime, according to the Iloilo provincial government.[9]

The provincial page says that during the Philippine-American War, American soldiers water-tortured Igbaras leaders and then burned the village.[9]

Following the 1849 surname decree of Governor-General Narciso Claveria, Igbaras families were given surnames that mostly start with the letter E, says the provincial page.[9]
