Created
Executive Order No. 143, signed 15 March 1938, reestablished the former municipality of Tubungan as an independent municipality separate from Guimbal, effective 1 May 1938.[9]

Its story

Tubungan had earlier been a municipality but was part of Guimbal; in 1938 many of its inhabitants petitioned to be separated again and the President reorganised it as an independent town.[9]

The order was issued on the recommendation of the Iloilo provincial board, the assemblyman of the First District, and the Secretary of the Interior.[9]
