History & Identity

Created
Arteche was created as a municipality by Republic Act No. 607, approved on April 27, 1951, out of ten barrios taken from Oras.[9]

Its story

The ten barrios, headed by San Ramon, were separated from Oras in the province of Samar and made an independent municipality, with the municipal government seated in San Ramon.[9]

The law had the President of the Philippines appoint the first mayor, vice-mayor and councilors, who served until elected successors qualified.[9]
