Its story

The provincial page calls Dauis one of the oldest municipalities of Bohol, with 9,090 people in 1879, and says no record of its establishment survives because municipal records burned in World War II.[9]

Church records date the parish's founding to 1697, and the page judges the town came into being shortly after, while a stone tower close to the current church carries the date 1774.[9]

The old church was built in 1863 and the convent in 1884.[9]

In 1903 Act No. 968 listed Dauis among the municipalities that keep their present territories.[10]

Timeline

  1. 1697

The parish of Dauis was established, according to church records cited by the provincial page.[9]

  2. 1863
