History & Identity

Created
Executive Order No. 425, dated 16 March 1961, segregated the barrios of Lugait, Biga and Aya-Aya from Manticao and organised them into the independent municipality of Lugait, seat at barrio Lugait.[9]

Its story

Lugait was already a barrio when Manticao was organised out of Initao in 1949; it is named among Manticao's barrios in that order.[10]

The 1961 order made the town begin to exist only after its officials were appointed and the Secretary of Finance certified it could meet its obligations.[9]
